SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

The idea of a CNR Program is to… Catch, Neuter and Release stray animals..

NOT “rescue” or “buy” them from an animal shelter for release.

By doing so, you are insulting that organisation and the good that they HAVE done..

Each organisation have their own policies, policies that they see fit for the betterment of their organisational growth.

We may disagree with their policies but one has to respect that it is their prerogative.

Work such as this is not about popularity.. To attain popularity, though ideal, would defeat its purpose.

You’ll never know what it takes to make such an organisation work if you’re not actively involved.. if you’re not in it..

I personally doubt any animal shelters like SPCA would need to put any animal to sleep if everyone plays an ACTIVE role in caring for the welfare of the strays.

It’s just so sad that people in general unjustly treat SPCA as a dumping ground for unwanted pets or stray animals..

Tell me.. what would you do if you were wearing SPCA’s oversize shoes..?

So, everyone.. it does take two to tango..

And for every animal that is put to sleep, you and I are to blame too..

Remember, inaction.. or lack of thereof.. is just as bad.. and is a definite contributing factor too..

Again.. the definition of a CNR Program is to catch the animals ourselves, have them neutered on our own and releasing them where we see fit.. NOT swipe them FROM an animal shelter..

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

The SCCARFS Pet Connection Project was born out of love and passion for the stray animals..

We at SCCARFS have been hurting on behalf of the strays for a long time now..

We actually feel pain when we see an animal suffer.

Thus our decision to do what we’re doing now.. all at our own expense.. our time, our resources, our money.. without any unnecessary and distracting human issues..

And I think we’ve been doing a bloody good job at it too..

So we know what the word “sacrifice” encompass.. cos we try living it every single day..

Just in case you do not know, sacrifice, to us, means sacrificing one’s limited resources without expecting any benefit.

And I can assure you, we at SCCARFS sacrifice a huge chunk of our resources for these animals..

So, if we sound proud.. hell yeah we are..

We are proud to do what we do and we are really happy to give.. no matter how much.. from the little that we have..

To those who were interested in attending the meeting this Saturday.. you are welcomed to visit US at the SCCARFS hideaway in Kota Kemuning and see what we’re already doing instead..

Then you’ll understand better our dos and don’ts, our goals and principles..

Come visit us.. but do call first to let me know that you’re coming..

Thank you so much, everyone..
.. and Have a great day!!

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..

I can assure you all that no one person is a factor in our decision of refraining to actively participate in other CNR Programs..

Let’s leave emotion and sensitivity aside as our main concern is about the welfare of the stray animals.

We at SCCARFS fear that we may not be able to cope if we attempt to be involved in other projects as we have always worked at a pace that we were comfortable with and since SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is a personal passion.. it is likened to a hobby..

It just so happen that we have taken our very-expensive-no-profit-hobby to a much larger scale than most others would..

So, everyone.. contribute all that you can to any programs or projects of your choice.

Everyone’s contribution is invaluable.. It doesn’t matter where the contributions go so long as the animals benefit..

You have our word that we at SCCARFS will always do whatever we can whenever we can wherever we can.. but at a pace and scale that will not negatively overwhelm us..

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

After much consideration and lengthy deliberations, we at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project have decided to not participate in the above thread’s Neuter and Release Program as we fear that we may be detracting from our original goals and principles..

It is obvious that we all have very different styles of walking though the destination may be the same.

Besides, we also believe that too many cooks spoils the soup..

However, we would still like to contribute towards the above thread’s project by donating financially.. as everyone..

With that, we pledge to up the ante from the asking RM10 per month per person and contribute RM100 every month to the Catalina CNR Program upon commencement of the project.

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..

(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project adopt a no-kill policy..

But then again, we’re not a full blown animal shelter like SPCA..

However, we WILL put to sleep any animal that is seriously suffering or dying, but only the ones that we’re unable to help or save.

We DO NOT put to sleep healthy animals.. NOT even the sick ones.. as in the case of the fella with mange..

But please do remember that SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is a personal project that started out as a personal quest to help the stray population.. and we still are..

We currently do and have done everything on our own with little or no help from the public..

But that’s okay cos we like giving..

And we have every right to be proud of what we do.. cos we did what we can whenever we can wherever we can..

We did it!! Just Do It!!

Therefore, we would appreciate all who would like to participate in our project to support us in what we’re already doing and NOT detract or de-rail us.

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

The Neuter and Release Program is just a piece of the jigsaw puzzle in caring for the welfare of the stray animals.. no doubt a big one..

Other forms of support and consideration must come into play for this program to be successful.

One CANNOT just pick up a stray animal, immediately have it neutered.. and then chuck them back where we found them.

There needs to be a level of care and responsibility for the animals, stray or not.

If SCCARFS Pet Connection Project agrees to be a part of this proposal, we will and insist on a level of care that is up to our standard.

Or else, we just view it as an act of butchering these animals just to lay our guilt, of not doing more, to rest.

The Neuter and Release Program is a program and a journey… a program of coordinated considerations and heartfelt issues for us humans AND a journey for the animals involved.

The Neuter and Release Program in THE ABOVE MENTIONED thread is different from the one that SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is advocating.

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project encourages and pleads with animal lovers and volunteers to be actively involved in the plan to reduce the number of strays.. with our guidance and assistance.. if required.

We at SCCARFS will participate in THE ABOVE MENTIONED thread’s project but only if there is a guarantee of quality too.. and not just quantity..

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hi Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

This would be a very rough plan with regards to the above thread’s proposal..

We at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project can tell you how many cats can be neutered for the amount collected..

For example, for RM200.. you can neuter about four male cats OR three female cats.. and even that would need to be partially subsidized by SCCARFS, based on the quality of the surgical materials and drugs that we use.

The rates offered by SPCA are low. I can assure you at those rates, the surgeries ARE partially subsidized by SPCA. Because cost alone of surgical materials already exceed the rates listed. So SPCA is doing the best they can!!

We will absorb the cost of housing, feeding, medicating for other medical issues (provided not too serious), daily care, general grooming, etc.. until they are released.. that is if we’re first unable to find them a home.

But please do remember.. we at SCCARFS are already doing all of the above..

The contribution will help us reach out and help more animals.. since we are currently a personally funded project..

What we can do is to post the pictures of animals neutered and released to all involved..

We would, however, like all the details about the animals’ welfare to be worked out beforehand.. like where they’ll go after that, etc..

If possible, we would like them released at the backyard of an animal lover or volunteer who will at least feed them and provide general basic care..

Or if someone can help send the animals to animal sanctuaries where they can spend their remaining lives in peace..

All these needs to be considered as well..

Let’s do this and let’s do this well!!

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hi Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

Thank you again for your interest in collaborating with SCCARFS Pet Connection Project for the care and welfare of the stray animals..

We at SCCARFS are all for the CNR Program.

In fact, we have been preaching about it like a broken record since Day One.. and not only that, we have been practising it too.. though we prefer to try to find the animals a home first.

What Catalina is spearheading is new to us. We truly appreciate all the effort that she has put into the above mentioned thread! It’s people like her that truly care for the welfare of the animals.. and just knowing that makes our day!!

Since we have already been doing this as a personal project, we were hoping for SCCARFS PCP to further bloom with the participation of others..

With reference to the Neuter and Release Thread, there are details that needs to be finalised..

For example.. who brings in the animals, the other medical care and attention during the stay and most importantly, WE have to decide how and where to release these animals so that life is actually better for them, etc etc.

No point releasing them for them to face a host of other problems, like starvation and diseases from others in the existing colony..

All these needs to be considered.. and more..

It’s not that SCCARFS’s response has been lukewarm.. We have been spending many nights awake trying to figure out the details.. (I can assure you.. WE at SCCARFS now have no life except for our own work that funds this project and SCCARFS PCP..)

It’s very important to us that it is not a case of “from a pot and into a pan”..

Please understand that the welfare of the animals are our priority..

Also, all stray animals should not be neutered/ spayed immediately upon catching as they may already be suffering from other health problems and needs to heal first before undergoing another traumatic experience.

Not to mention they will also need to have a recuperating period after surgery before release..

As we all now know, animals suffer from stress too..

We at SCCARFS do not believe in releasing the animal until it has fully healed from the surgery and any other medical issues that may be plaguing them.

Therefore.. from the moment the animals come in, there will be many other considerations..

What we ask is that the issues be covered too as it’s not just to spay or neuter the animal but for the animal’s general wellbeing as well..

Let’s do this.. and Let’s do it well!!

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hello Everyone..
Hi Catalina..

(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

Thank you all.. for your support and for considering SCCARFS Pet Connection Project in your proposal.

The CNR Program that we are currently advocating encourages participants to be much more actively involved.

However, we are also considering launching SCCARFS PCP Club, whereby membership fees and funds received from members will be used for the care and neutering/ spaying of the animals.

Maybe.. we can combine these thoughts and ideas..

Let’s further discuss this and see how we may better help the animals together..

We welcome ideas from everyone as well…

Thank you so much..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project
