SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Choose to Care

Hello Everyone..
Hi Melissa..

Thank you for your supportive words..

I’m very glad that Amber is settling well and is behaving herself. I hope that Jack is a good boy as well..

My warmest regards to Fazrul and Comel too..

What Melissa mentioned is true..

For every animal that is adopted from us, it gives us the space necessary besides releasing our resources to rescue and help another..

Therefore, in effect.. you ARE rescuing and helping too when you open your heart and home to a homeless animal..

No doubt we also practise a Catch, Neuter and Release Program.. but we at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project are comfortable only releasing neutered adult cats that already possess the experience and characteristics to handle the world out there..

We DO NOT feel comfortable releasing kittens and puppies, un-adopted adults that we’ve cared for since kittenhood and puppyhood, adults with timid characteristics and dogs.

Even that, we only release these selected animals to available Caring Community Members’ vicinity..

Basically these are friends who are willing to have the cats released in their home area and do not mind to continue feeding them..

However, these animals are NOT their pets.. only visiting neutered strays..

Occasionally, they also send strays that they came across to be neutered at their own expense.

THIS is the Catch, Neuter and Release Program that SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is advocating..

A network of animal lovers or supporters who do not mind sacrificing a bit of their time and money but care for the strays from afar..

There are many of us who already care for so many additional lives in their respective homes.. but at the same time wish to do more to help the others suffering out there..

So the idea is… to be actively involved in neutering the strays in your home environment besides just feeding them..

The strays do not ask for much…

And it is nothing that most of us cannot afford..

It truly is a matter of choice… Choose to care.. and a little bit of sacrifice for a better world..

Thanks so much, everyone..

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Frustrating Limitations

Hello Everyone..

The SCCARFS Pet Connection Project basically grew from personal care and concern for the welfare of the stray animals..

We are individuals who were already rescuing and caring for many of the stray animals that crossed our paths for many years now..

As with some of you animal lovers, we had many dreams of the world being a better place for animals..

Unfortunately, the world that we currently live in is abound with unnecessary cruelty and disregard towards animals..

So we decided to combine our resources and skills and try to reach out further to help more stray animals..

The SCCARFS Pet Connection Project currently consists of a small group of individuals.

We are not an organization nor are we an animal shelter..

Every one of us have got individual full time jobs and responsibilities.. and we juggle SCCARFS Pet Connection Project admist our personal obligations and daily routine..

The SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is personally funded.

Therefore, as much we would like to be able to help all the animals that are suffering out there.. we are not in the position to..

Thus our motto which we have been preaching repeatedly.. Do what you can when you can wherever you can..

We have received many requests to take in animals found by others..

Please know and remember.. we are experiencing the same dilemma as you.. and more..

It breaks my heart to even hear about an animal suffering but our resources are truly limited.

If we were to combine all the cats that the four of us are currently caring for, inclusive of personal pets.. the number already exceed three digits..

So you see.. it’s not that we do not want to help..

It’s because we can only do so much.. without losing our hope and sanity..

And we really have been stretching our resources over the limit..

Thank you for understanding..

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Basic Decency

Hello Everyone..
Hi Suzy..

With reference to Suzy’s comment, I must say that I have met many insensitive parents and insensitive children as well.. not necessarily related.. with NO regards whatsoever or basic decency to treat an animal right.. as a living breathing being that deserves nothing less..

I have also come across many animals, cats and dogs tied with various types of strings and wires too. I have even seen many of these animals suffering in silent pain and agony from the strings eating into their flesh and causing excruciating open flesh wounds.

Just recently, I saw a group of children playing.. They were gleefully burning alive insects while several others were treating a cat as a football.. Their parents were standing nearby.. and they did nothing to stop their kids’ acts of cruelty.

Therefore, the heavy burden of educating others and care for the victimized falls on the shoulders of those with a more heightened sense of responsibility and sensitivity..

It does seem like an uphill battle most time.. but for those who ARE able to feel the pain of others, it is YOUR responsibility to act for the weak.. for empathy is not a common characteristic in this world that we currently live in.

Thank you so much, everyone..

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Affiliation

Hello Everyone..

We at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project have received numerous enquiries as to whether we are affiliated to SPCA in any way..

The answer is.. No..

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project is an independant and personally funded project.

We are not affiliated or linked to any other groups, societies or organisations.

We have pretty much kept a low profile all these years though we have already been actively rescuing and releasing neutered animals.. all at a pace that we were comfortable handling..

It is only recently that we decided to make our project known to the public to help facilitate possible adoption before releasing the fully-recovered-neutered animals back into suitable locations.. and also to expand on the work that we do through the participation of individuals who share the same views as us..

We therefore hope to be able to reach as many possible out there to spread the need and importance of neutering not just one’s pets but the stray population as well..

Everyone needs to play an active role..

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Angels and Updates

Hello Everyone..
Hi Carebear, Momo and Lesley..

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement..

We at SCCARFS have been really busy lately.. thus the lack of updates..

Lots have happened but we can only share a fraction of the news, challenges and excitement due to time constraints..

Faizah’s sister, Fazilah (aka Zizi) and her friend, Halim.. came by to collect the two big bags of cat food that SCCARFS has pledged to them to assist in the care of their forty cats..

And you know what.. ANGELS come in many forms!

Halim and Zizi were very kind to assist US instead in some unfinished carpentry work for a huge walk-in cage that we were planning.

Thanks, Zizi and Halim.. We at SCCARFS are very grateful for your help that evening..

This is yet another example of what we at SCCARFS believe in.. The beauty and magic in giving… with no cables attached!!

Then, we had to wait for Sya to arrive with her sister and the pregnant cat that she was distressed over.

Please bear in mind that SCCARFS generally do not take in strays from others but we do consider the situation on a case to case basis..

Anyway, the deal we made with Sya was that we would care for the momma cat till she has birthed and nursed her kittens, after which Sya will be responsible for the spaying of the momma cat and finding new homes for the kittens.

The momma cat will be cared under SCCARFS’ CNR Program and is scheduled for release outside Sya’s home after she has fully healed from the surgery..

By the way, Sya.. momma won’t pop her load till about another two weeks or so.. and she is currently adapting well to her new temporary home..

Alli dropped by with her family to visit Mogwai..

Mogwai was estatic with all the cuddles and love that Alli was showering upon her.

Alli will also be adopting two of the kittens under Nora’s care..

Thanks, Alli..

Chester went home with Meen’s brother.. but we have just received news that Kobe may not be too pleased with Chester’s arrival..

Apparently, fur has been flying..

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for Meen’s Chester and Kobe..

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – External CNR Proposal

Hi Everyone..
(With reference to Catalina’s Neuter and Release Program Thread)

This would be a very rough plan with regards to the above thread’s proposal..

We at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project can tell you how many cats can be neutered for the amount collected..

For example, for RM200.. you can neuter about four male cats OR three female cats.. and even that would need to be partially subsidized by SCCARFS, based on the quality of the surgical materials and drugs that we use.

The rates offered by SPCA are low. I can assure you at those rates, the surgeries ARE partially subsidized by SPCA. Because cost alone of surgical materials already exceed the rates listed. So SPCA is doing the best they can!!

We will absorb the cost of housing, feeding, medicating for other medical issues (provided not too serious), daily care, general grooming, etc.. until they are released.. that is if we’re first unable to find them a home.

But please do remember.. we at SCCARFS are already doing all of the above..

The contribution will help us reach out and help more animals.. since we are currently a personally funded project..

What we can do is to post the pictures of animals neutered and released to all involved..

We would, however, like all the details about the animals’ welfare to be worked out beforehand.. like where they’ll go after that, etc..

If possible, we would like them released at the backyard of an animal lover or volunteer who will at least feed them and provide general basic care..

Or if someone can help send the animals to animal sanctuaries where they can spend their remaining lives in peace..

All these needs to be considered as well..

Let’s do this and let’s do this well!!

Thank you so much, everyone..

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Life’s Scratches

Hi Everyone..

I have to retract the comment that all our cats do not scratch nor hiss from an earlier input in this thread. I apologise for that!

We do have ONE, a gray tabby, that we’ve had since he was born. He was always a timid fella and we’ve never seen him aggresive before.. but last weekend, he freaked out a little.. and I now have the same physical markings as him.
Thanks, Shameen..

However, I’m so happy that Shameen decided to adopt him and give him a home that the scratches and puncture wounds (several of which one about SIX inches long) didn’t even bother me at all.

We at SCCARFS realise that SCRATCHES comes with the territory.

Handling and caring for these animals is a challenge and a continually risky affair.. but we won’t change it for anything..

Thanks so much, everyone..
and Happy Holidays!!

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project
Su

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – Contributions

Hi All..
Hi TinkerBell..

Thank you for your suggestion..

We at SCCARFS Pet Connection Project HAVE thought about it..

It’s just that since we’ve been doing this for so long.. we’re just absolutely estatic and very appreciative as it is each time we find one of those cats a new and good home.

That is also why we can only take in a limited number each time so as to not be overwhelmed by potential constraints that usually comes with such an undertaking.

We would, of course, appreciate all contributions.. in whatever form.. to assist us in our quest to help other stray animals.

Thank you so much!!

Yours sincerely,
SCCARFS Pet Connection Project

SCCARFS Pet Connection Project – No Adoption Fees

Hello Everyone..
Hi Alice..

Actually, all the kittens are absolutely gorgeous!!

The pictures didn’t do the others justice and it didn’t help that some were much more interested in the surrounding activities than to pose for me..

Also, my new camera flashes red light right onto their faces, which kinda freaked out the older cats a little, thus the reason why many looked away from the camera’s lenses this time..

All the kittens pictured are currently a little over one month old with the oldest being about two months old.

Please do bear in mind that the adoption process is on a first come first served basis.

I would definitely recommend you dropping by so that you can get to know the characteristics of the different kittens before deciding.

That was how Liza chose her new boy. He charmed her with his exquisite laid back behaviour! It was absolutely heartwarming to see him cradling comfortably in her arms!

To all those interested in visiting us, please call or send me an email with your fax number or email address and I’ll fax or email the location map to you..

Oh.. and we do not charge any adoption fees.

All that matters to us at SCCARFS is for the animals to find good and loving homes..

Thank you so much!

Warmest Regards,
Su
